Eugene F. Cuypers
I am a Native American artist who came to prison when I was 20 years old. I was sentenced to 30 Years to Life. I have been incarcerated for 27 years and will soon be preparing for going before the Board, hopefully I will be granted parole. After hearing that my friend (girl) had been badly hurt I handled it poorly resulting in my incarceration. Initially I struggled with my incarceration. I am much older now and make far better decisions. I taught myself art while incarcerated. I experiment with many different types of mediums. Currently I am mastering using oil based watercolors. I hope one day to be able to return home and continue my life as an artist.
I have no childhood photos, as my parents' home burned down, and everything was lost.
